The solar plexus chakra (Manipura), is the sun within. Think of the qualities that radiate from the sun, warmth, creativity, energy, abundance of wealth, enthusiasm, passion, joy and happiness.
The solar plexus chakra is responsible for digesting food and emotions, so think of it as a wheel of life, recycling the negative energy for positivity.
It is located at the base of your sternum and is associated with your digestive organs, stomach, gallbladder, spleen, liver and small intestine.
What’s the purpose of the solar plexus chakra?
The purpose of the solar plexus chakra is to provide energy.
Throughout our lives we encounter many experiences and emotions that we absorb and digest. Take for example a person who has been cheated on whilst in a relationship and the emotional hurt they experience. With a correctly balanced solar plexus chakra, a healthy person will after a short while, digest the experience and learn from it to better themselves in the future.
On occasions though, when the solar plexus chakra is unbalanced, we hold on to the negative emotions in an attempt to protect ourselves, when really all we are doing is making things worse and causing dis-ease and illnesses such as indigestion for example.
Think of those people who close their heart, who become broken-hearted and eventually suffer ill health, or those people who beat themselves up, turn inwards and suffer a lack of confidence and have poor body-image. This negativity needs to be expelled!
If we turn our attention back to the qualities the sun offers, it makes it easier to understand the fire energy this chakra centre holds.
Fire for instance can be seen as a purge to start new growth or it can be seen as destructive, hence the solar plexus chakra sometimes being referred to as the seat of opposites.
Without this positive fire energy, we will not have passion, drive or enthusiasm for life or if too much energy, we may be over controlling and egotistical.
When our solar plexus chakra is balanced correctly, we are passionate about life and about ourselves and we are able to manifest our goals and desires.
We are creative with ideas and we have a clear vision of how to achieve them. We are able to maintain a positive focus and communicate our requirements and we can correctly swallow, digest and absorb issues along the way and therefor maintain a healthy mental health status. We can achieve success and achieve gold status! See what I’ve done there as gold is a strong shade of yellow?
